Jessie's Volunteer Story

I have been having a very enjoyable and enriching experience volunteering with the London Labour Party. I recently helped at the launch of London Labour’s new Battle Bus.

Before the event started, I was able to meet and speak with many MPs including Sadiq Khan, Rachel Reeves, and Jonathan Ashworth. I was also able to talk with Brent Central’s candidate Dawn Butler and Hampstead and Kilburn’s candidate Tulip Siddiq. Volunteering at the event gave me a chance to meet and connect with many different politicians and learn about the issues they are fighting for in their communities.

After the launch, we broke up into groups and went canvassing throughout Brent Central and Hampstead and Kilburn. I am new to campaigning and was initially nervous; however, they paired me with an experienced canvasser who put me at ease. I really enjoyed being able to go into a different CLP and speak with people about their community issues. Living in South West London, I very rarely get a chance to go out into Brent Central or Hampstead and Kilburn.

Volunteering with the London Labour Party has given me the opportunity to explore new areas of London, meet influential politicians, and help secure a Labour vote in two of our key seats.
