Police numbers to be slashed by deputy mayor in Met budget crisis

The Evening Standard are reporting today: ’Boris Johnson's policing supremo today warned Londoners of “tough” years ahead as he admitted that officer numbers could fall because of huge cuts in Scotland Yard’s budget', and, ‘Mr Greenhalgh said details of the cash cuts will be unveiled in autumn, followed at the end of this year by a new “vision” of how the Met will operate. In his report to Parliament this week, Sir Denis said the Met would have 1,410 fewer officers by next March, compared with the 2010 total.’
