David Miliband says Southall Gurdwara is a tribute to Britain’s diversity and tolerance

16th April 2010

David Miliband and Virendra Sharma Labour’s candidate for Ealing Southall visited the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sahba in Southall today to meet worshippers and local people.

David Miliband said:

“I am really honoured to visit the Gurdwara today. The Gurdwara is a tribute to Britain’s diversity and tolerance.

As British Foreign Secretary I represent people from all different faiths as well as those who do not worship at all.

Today, I urge the people of Ealing and Southall to take a long hard look at Tory policies and what they would mean for economic recovery, frontline services and a Britain based on fairness, respect and decency.

Virendra Sharma said:

I am delighted to bring Labour's Foreign Secretary to the Sri Guru Singh Saba Gurdwara to celebrate the contribution of the Sikh community to Britian. Today I pledge to continue to work on behalf of all the people of Ealing and Southall and make sure that their voices are heard.
