Andy Burnham challenges Conservatives on health plans

20th April 2010

Andy Burnham and Ann Keen, Labour candidate for Brentford and Isleworth will today issue a health challenge to Conservatives.

Andy Burnham said:

“Londoners have a clear choice between Labour who will defend the NHS and the Conservatives who will not. The Tories will scrap Labour’s guarantee for cancer test results in one week, scrap Labour’s guarantee of seeing a cancer specialist in two weeks, scrap Labour’s guarantee of treatment within 18 weeks and scrap the four hours maximum A&E waiting time target.

“Today, I challenge the Conservatives to match Labour’s pledges for better healthcare for all Londoners.

Ann Keen said:

“The people of Hounslow should take a long hard look at the Conservatives. Only Labour will guarantee that no Londoner will wait more than 2 weeks for a cancer referral and will receive diagnosis within one week, saving up to 1500 lives in the capital. I challenge the Conservative candidate for Brentford and Isleworth to match Labour’s pledges for Hounslow residents.
