European Funding in London

Our membership of the European Union, with nearly 455million consumers, is one of the main attractions for inward investment in the UK.

    
• Inward investment into London, in 2005/06 helped to create and safeguard over 6,700 jobs     
• London also benefits from European Union Fund Programmes. Examples include:
• Innov' a project funded by the European Regional Development Fund has received £433,000. This project works with 200 women and Black & Minority Ethnic-owned SMEs in developing innovative approaches to carrying out business and deploying new technologies to support and enter new markets through e-trading. Support is given via awareness raising seminars, individual reviews, action planning and technology exploration services. A number of key partners in East London are involved in delivering project including LB Newham and the University of East London
• 'Success for Sport' has received £250,000 of European Social Fund. The London Development Agency and Learning and Skills Council identified sport development as a priority area in relation to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The project will raise skills levels through Sports Coach Training and targets beneficiaries from ethnic minorities, women, young people, disabled people and those from deprived communities
